Help with Barracuda 11 firmware issue

There’s a firmware issue with some Seagate 3.5″ SATA drives that can make the drive inaccessible.  Go here to check to see if your drive is affected, and to get a free firmware update.

The firmware update fixes the original issue as well as compatibility issues from the Jan 16 firmware update initially issued to correct the problem.

The issue has been found on some versions of Barracuda 7200.11, DiamondMax 22 and Barracuda ES.2 SATA drives manufactured through December 2008.

“Thanks” Seagate guys. I bought a 500GB 7200.11 [ST3500320AS] in june 2008, and one day in october it was just like disappeared when I started the PC. And only now you’re notice that and starting to do something? I SPENT 250 EUROs for getting my data back from that HDD!

How is the 640GB version? Is it also affected?

    Sldos.
